Buying Childrens Books Online
There are several ways to purchase books for your children. One of the most cost effective ways is on online. Where do you look for books and how much should you pay for a new book?
Before considering where to buy childrens books online it is important to know what types of books you want to buy. You will also need to consider what condition the books need to be in, the overall value of the books, and the maximum you are willing to pay for them.
As you read with your children you get a feel for what types of books they prefer. Most boys like pirates, dinosaurs, adventure, and super hero books. They like stories they feel like they could possibly be a part of.
Most girls like fairy tales, ballerina tales, and most make believe stories with happy endings. Girls like the kind of stories they can only dream about; like being a kind but strong princess. Girls also like stories about careers, magic, and sometimes high adventure.
Pick a book that fits your child and you will be guaranteed success even if you over pay for a book. Look at a couple of book stores or departments stores to help you find an appropriate book. Don’t be alarmed when you see just how expensive children’s books have becomes; just remember your price will be substantially less.
Next think about what type of shape you want your book to be in. Does it need to be brand new? Can it be gently used? Does it really matter at all? Only you can decide if your book will be in the best shape possible or if it will be in fair shape.
Armed with the book title and genre, a retail price, and a decision on the quality of the book you are almost ready to find your children’s books online. Aim to pay around fifty to sixty percent of the retail store price of the book if it is new. For a gently used version of the book aim to pay around thirty to forty five percent and for a very used copy of the book no more than ten percent.
One of the best places to buy your book or almost anything else online is an auction. Ebay is the most popular, but there are many others. When you buy your book from an auction you can expect to pay well below the average internet price.
It is not uncommon for a person to buy a brand new book worth twenty dollars in the retail stores for five or six dollars at auction. Be sure to consider the amount of shipping as part of the purchase price when you bid on your book.
Start out slow and bid on only one or two books to get your feet wet. It is easy to get into abiding war so set your maximum price in your mind before you place your bid. As a general rule do not allow yourself to ever go above your preset max bid. This will keep you from over paying for your book because you got caught up in the competition for it.
